Ways to make your wheels faster

all_wheels_lined_up_with_flash2.jpg

Depending on the rules for your class, you can create racing slicks, or tapered tires to improve performance.  If racing in the stock classes, you can reduce the probability of friction on the wheel faces.  When the wheels  are molded, they frequently have burrs where the plastic mold had seams.  These burrs cause uneven rolling.  Derby-Worx created a tool to even out the tire to make it roll true.

If your race allows tapered tires, you cn cut an H or a V shap into the tire to reduce the probability of friction on the wheel surface.

Also, you can raise one tire up so that only three touch the ground at any given time, decreading the probability of friction also.
